Increasing services for newcomers

Catholic CharitiesToday’s Cincinnati Enquirer takes note of Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio’s increase in services to refugees and immigrants. 

The agency “provided services to 1,363 immigrant households with financial and other aid and information and supports on how to move toward self-sufficiency,” the Enquirer reported.

Its also noted that Catholic Charities Southwestern Ohio resettled 228 refugees last year (a 70% increase over the number for 2014) and provided 4.7 million meals through the Second Harvest Food Bank and via mobile pantries.

“Mental health counselors were placed in 15 schools last year, and this year our Food for All Pantry is visiting food deserts in rural communities,” the Enquirer said.
